About the position: The Operations Analyst will support, onboard, configure, & monitor infrastructure supported by RKON’s Network Operations Center (NOC). The Operations Analyst will be the front line of support for issues related to network and server administration including patching, backups, and monitoring of RKON’s Virtual Infrastructure (RVI), client environments and public cloud. This is a critical function that acts as a liaison between the End User, Network, Server, Cloud Ops, SOC, & Architecture teams.

Responsibilities Include:
Monitoring
  • Provide first level of support and triage for clients, both internal and external, including handling system alerts and phone calls into RKON support
  • React and respond to alerts to ensure maximum possible service availability and performance. Example alerts:
    • Disk Space Utilization Alert
    • Server Down Alert
    • Firewall Cluster Failover Alert
    • Site-wide Network Outage
  • Provide support services for Engineering and other technical teams
  • Timely management and attention to ticket detail and updates
Change Request
  • Building virtual servers to client specification
  • Add system resources such as RAM/CPU to a server
  • Utilize VMware/Hyper-V/AD/O365 to fulfill daily ticket requests
  • Provide support services for Engineering and other technical teams
Incident Management
  • Open internal or external tickets as needed
  • Triage alerts/reported issues and requests, follow escalation process to engage/coordinate required resources
  • Utilize VMware/Hyper-V/AD/O365 to fulfill daily ticket requests
  • Evaluate effectiveness of current processes and propose alternatives when necessary
Patching/Backups/Maintenance
  • Complete daily/weekly checklists.  Some examples:
    • Daily Handoff Follow-ups and Escalations
    • Backup Audits
    • VMware Snapshot Audits
  • Provide excellent customer service and vendor management
  • Determine steps to solve entry level Network and Systems tickets
  • Assist with proactive performance reports for customers (internal and external)
  • Maintain and adjust in-house monitoring tools as needed
Documentation
  • Working to help strengthen and streamline the training/troubleshooting/triage process with clear and effective documentation
  • Create and maintain customer and network documentation when required
  • Shadow processes with colleagues to help document as needed

Technical and Professional Qualifications and Expertise
  • A strong willingness and desire to continue to learn, grow and improve
  • Contribution to continual service improvement through process and automation
  • Possess excellent written and documentation skills
  • Ability to be punctual and maintain a varied schedule from week to week
  • Including rotating off hours coverage (nights/weekends)
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Active Directory, O365, Logic Monitor, Check Point, RingCentral and/or Service Now a plus
  • Experience with anti-virus software, intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, and content filtering
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery, computer forensic tools, technologies, and methods
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Groovy and PowerShell

Education/Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Systems/Security or 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Preferred certifications include, but are not limited to, A+, Network+, Security+, Check Point, Palo, Microsoft, Azure, Juniper, AWS, Linux

Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000. This is an estimated range based on the circumstances at the time of posting, however, may change based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, education, market factors, geographical location, budget, and demand. As part of our total compensation package, RKON provides a benefits package that includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, long and short-term disability insurance); flexible time off; and a 401(k) Plan with employer match to qualifying employees. All compensation determinations are based on the skills and experience required for the position and commensurate with experience of selected individuals, which may vary above and below the stated amounts.
